DJ&M - THE BAROQUE OR ODD PROJECT

Inspired by The Beatles' White Album release November 1968, DJ&M (a.k.a. Donnojanne & Maecs, much later to become Joxfield ProjeX) wrote an album consisting of 30 songs, meant to be spread over 4 sides of a double LP. This was completed in February 1969. 
The title of that album should be ”Baroque Or Odd”. 
Of course it wasn't recorded. Having no studio or money at all and being super-amateurish 14 – 15 years old kids it was nothing to talk about. It never happened.
But, who knows, maybe a newly recorded interpretation of the whole ”Baroque Or Odd” album may show up 2019, some 50 years since the last Donnojanne & Maecs activities.

Uncle Joxfield Autumn 1968

50 years ago, autumn 1968, this pre-Joxfield ProjeX Donnojanne & Maecs tune was written. Not only being the legend of our worst tune ever (among many others), but also being the inspiration for our band name when we after a 30 years intermission took up our music activities again in 2005 with the one rule: No nostalgia or old shit, only new stuff!

In September the avant-whatever duo Joxfield ProjeX will get together at C Anna for some Live Exploration 3 sessions. This means training, practicing, rehearsal, discussions, creative quarels, argumentations, anything that brings the process forward with the goal to find out if we have anything we could bring into an upcoming live situation. The future may arrive.

Donnojanne & Maecs Legacy will present newly made intepretations of music written by Don J Larwott & Mac M McCleado 1968-1969. 
The interpretations will focus on the melodies in the compositions, arranged for a small scale ensemble. 
This is the first time this music will be heard in 50 years.

What new music looks like

2017 was the year when Joxfield ProjeX did make some live explorations. It's not finished yet, there are still developments to do. How it will end no-one knows
2018 has so far been a very creative year working with a lot of new music in home studio enviroment. Here's a piece called "Bass to the Camp", Janne & Stefan's joined forces in a minimalistic, uptempo, danceable tune where things happens slowly, if at all.

With the release of the new majestic album ”Black” Joxfield ProjeX also launched a new Tin Can Music sublabel, Tin Can Music Division of VAHP (Very Amateurish Homemade Prints)

”Black” is primarily a digital release, but for those who urge for something physical to put into the CD player we can offer these cheap homemade CDR prints in small editions for low cost plus shipping.

The future plans for TCMDoVAHP is to add most of Joxfield ProjeX discography from 2009 and on to this sublabel through Bandcamp uploads.

Ther first re-releases will be five albums from 2009 previously released on Clinical Archives net label

Gathered for a week of live explorations and recordings of semi-structured/improvised tune Crackle which led to eight versions, 17 - 26 minutes long. And next step leading from here is still written in the sand.

This is a release that more or less don't exist as it was meant to be a free donwload album. But today I made a copy for a guy in the US on his nice request and will send it to him this week.

It's 2½ hours of very diverse music and features guest apperances from Geoff Leigh, Nikke Ström, Pat Mastelotto, José João Loureiro, Kenji Siratori, Regina P, Hiromichi Sakamoto, Churner, Håkan Almkvist and with a beautiful cover painting by Jan Ternald.

That's when it overcomes its codes and limitations that music is often the most exciting. And that's mostly when it merges into a cultural melting pot that currents appear that the new unfold.

joxfield & ryoko ono

Joxfield Projex & Ryoko Ono released this year an album that stands out from its references. Everything starts under auspices of the least hostile recalling Merzbow and sonic walls, and electro and repetitive rhythm gives almost to stomp. Certainly, the contours of the disc does not call for the Dance Floor, but we are surprised to think of some old guards of the new wave. Soon, this rhythmic smoky and cold decor like a forgotten corridor leads you into a troubling world.

If the rhythm obviously did not want to dispose of its binary structure, the background to it, continues to evolve, to move, crawl into languor. The saxophonist Ryoko Ono appeared after a few minutes, but does not provide for much heat to the decor. The saxophone is suffering for a long time a cutesy image systematically synonymous with popular and dripping theatrics of good feelings. It would still forget too quickly the big names that have passed through the history of this instrument, especially in jazz.

Imagine Coltrane and Dolphy at a summit with the most electro of Nine Inch Nails and Yellow Swans. Ryoko Ono deals welts this heartbreaking music billowing over you constantly, like an Indian round that never ends.

Red Red To which gives its name to the endless march album for an unknown destination but with the conviction that the answer is at the end of the trip. Then comes Unexplored Territories, second title of this album which has only two.

Here, the path and the landscape surrounding it are completely different. In fact, impossible to know where one is. The references are the same, but the removal of a rhythmic changes the whole gives and withdraws this valuable and solid music both the little railing she had. If in the first half, the disc was structured, repetitive, here everything explodes.

Abandoned lyricism wave, jagged perimeter security, tablecloths become twisted, overlapping, and electronic sounds narcotic vapors gradually add bravery shots a free jazz saxophone. This is all the uniqueness of the album: a saxophone free sometimes hysterical, ecstatic, and the slow sounds that dry slowly, flirting here with Tangerine Dream and others uninviting ambient references.

The assembly is covered with strange noisy ocean waves that evoke waves revenantes no water, no more than carting sand for fine relief worldwide. Within minutes, all the construction work of the first face is wiped out in favor of dull and gloomy colors, leading you into a fascinating and faded atmosphere.

The sounds that roll and burrow the hollow recesses retire one by one and not let some sound tracks, taught here and there, while enhancing the feeling of abandonment, loneliness, facing a record that poses an atmosphere in the same way that music and that raises questions for 40 minutes wonder: Where am I?
