Joxfield Live Exploration 2017

At the beginning of July 2017, Joxfield did their "Live Exploration 2" in Bråna, Dalsland, that is, an exploration of whether we would be able to present our music in a live situation in a way that we ourselves could be satisfied with. Janne had a sound construction, a pattern called "Crackle" that we used as a basis. There were a number of different variations on the basic theme played but with large variations as, as usual, we were easily bored by one-sided repetition. Everything was recorded and in 2021 we cut together 6 good moments from the recordings and released the album "Live Joxfield Vol. 1".

Over the years there have been a couple more Live Explorations, but we are not a live band yet. But having just turned 70, we plan to do our first world tour in ten years from now, so if you want to book us, be quick, we work slowly.

"Live Joxfield Vol. 1" can be listened to here https://tincanmusic.bandcamp.com/album/live-joxfield-vol-1

Today's Pick: Live Joxfield Vol. 1

Today you can listen to this one, "Live Joxfield Vol. 1" (Tin Can Music 2021).
During four days in July 2017, we recorded the same song in a number of different versions in the living room in Bråna, Dalsland. The basic structures of the song were the same but our reluctance to play the same thing over and over made it sound a little different each time. It was all part of an experiment to see if we could actually function as a live band. Everything was recorded as usual for documentation. A few years later, six of the versions were heavily edited and assembled into a suite, "Crackle". Not bad at all if I do say so myself. The Bandcamp version can be found here (with Bandcamp's little breaks between each part).
If you want to hear it in one go, it is available on various streaming services. If you want a simple, self-printed CD, you should apply here:

Live Joxfield Vol.2 out today!

If you don't think the gloomy, dark and rainy January is enough - here's a new live album by Joxfield.
Joxfield - Live Joxfield Vol.2

In March 2017 Joxfield made a weeklong non-audience appearance recording material live, the same tune over and over again in similar but different versions.

Here are two of them, the duo in a most experimental mood.

Joxfield ProjeX Live Exploration 3

In September the avant-whatever duo Joxfield ProjeX will get together at C Anna for some Live Exploration 3 sessions. This means training, practicing, rehearsal, discussions, creative quarels, argumentations, anything that brings the process forward with the goal to find out if we have anything we could bring into an upcoming live situation. The future may arrive.
