Baroque Or Odd (Digital Album + Limited Edition 2xCDR Tin Can Music/Tin Can Music Division of VAHP 2019)
“Baroque or Odd” by DJ&M – A Joxfield ProjeX Associate
In 1968 Janne & Stefan of Joxfield ProjeX had made music together for a couple of years as DJ&M, short for DonnoJanne & Maecs. Simple music just like kids do, but sometimes with an experimental touch. Even though they didn’t have any tape recorders until autumn 1969 they composed and organized albums as if it was for real. Having heard The Beatles’ self-titled “White Album” they were inspired by the concept of doing a double album, which they thus also did. Between December 1968 and February 1969, they wrote the 30 songs that became the DJ&M “virtual” double album “Baroque or Odd”. To override The Beatles DJ&M added a four track EP to the double LP. Cover art and various inserts were made in two copies, one each, as usual, but no recording. As usual. Janne had just turned 15, Stefan had four months left before his 15th birthday. Just kids.
As The Beatles’ “White Album” celebrated it’s 50th anniversary November 22 2018 the idea came up of making a constructive and creative interpretation of the 34 songs of “Baroque or Odd”. The music had been written down in a self-invented note system where you could see which note it was, but not its value. You had to memorize the specific melodies.
Sheets for 32 of the 34 songs were found in a closet. Most of the melodies were forgotten, but by reading and playing the self-invented note system various parts of the songs could be remembered, recovered and become the starting point of the interpretations of the songs. One of the songs, “Jar”, was a description of a cut-up sampled piece and this way of making music became inspiration for the two lost songs on the album ("I Am Embittered" & "With A Blue Balloon").
Between late November 2018 and January 2019 recordings, mixing and masters were done. 41 tunes in 85 minutes (the four track EP became five, the last song of the album is in seven parts, all in all 41 tracks). A double LP with an EP. Some kind of experimental progressive pop.
As Bandcamp have a short stop between tracks the tracks B4 & B5 here presents as one, as well as the BoO EP's five tracks is presented as one, and finally the 7 parts of D4 Guinea Pigs Song suite is presented as one single tune. Future physical releases will split these tracks into individual pieces
Released on February 7 2019 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its making
Enjoy!

Black (Digital Album + Limited Edition 4xCDR Tin Can Music/Tin Can Music Division of VAHP 2017)
Black is the result of a huge project that has been going on for the last five years. The main focus of the project was to make shorter tracks and it ended up with close to 50 more or less finished tracks of which half of them is included here along with a bunch of other tracks that fits to the collection.
It's primarily a digital release, but for those who urge for a physical 4xCDR copy of the album Tin Can Music Division of VAHP (Very Amateurish Homemade Prints) can offer a print-on-demand service. Unprofessional, but as good as it takes. Edition of 25.

What About Me? (CD Santos Productions 2013)
The album features 4 long duration tracks. Both artists are pure sound manipulators creating dark sound platforms. It is as if they are torturing sounds to obtain a very own and unique sound color. They don't hesitate to use guitar sounds as well, but the final sound is more important than really playing an instrument. This way "What About Me?" invites us to join on a mysterious trip, which is hard to grasp.

With music still keeping some heavy rough and dark moods the intention of this album is to offer some uplifting lightness and joy to the listeners, bring them loads of swirling sounds that even might bring them up on the dance floor for some horror moves in a futuristic dance exercise. The music is as intense, electric and beautiful as ever.

This is Joxfield ProjeX new release.
It's psychedelic music, it's kraut and space. There are even some brutal ambient.
It's created through free form minds, sometimes within frames of steady beats, sometimes not.
It's very electric.
Joxfield ProjeX is a duo.
Yan plays keyboard, program heavy drums, add some weird sounds here and there.
Oax play guitar, sometimes with ebow, sometimes just punch it and see what happens.
Most of the music is recorded live at Kolpebo, Sweden, with few overdubs and edits.

Hypnotic Wash Up (Free download Clinical Archives 2011)
"While standing in my kitchen doing the wash up and listening in my ghetto-blaster to the Majestic Pattern City Revisited Evolution suite from the Joxfield ProjeX very strict limited self-release album 'The Pond Intermezzo' (2006) I realized how goddamn good it was and that these tracks deserved being properly released. The album was originally printed in about 20 copies which mostly were given away to some of our friends. Very few copies were sold for almost nothing. The story of the suite: For the TPI sessions Yan had made a hypnotic, long pattern to which I made a 20 minutes long guitar improvisation. Due to too many wrong notes it was re-recorded once. There was more guitar terror and even more wrong notes. There was also a short, recorded sung melody. Then Yan locked himself into his room for a couple of months, re-worked the recorded music, picked up some themes from the solos, developed it, mixed it, split it, added the treated vocal parts, added some other freaky vocal parts and finally presented what's heard here. Maybe it's a bit accessible to have the suite split into eight parts, but the true reason was Yan's then car stereo which refused to play too long songs, it had to be split into parts."

Numbers And Letters (3 Disc Set Free download Clinical Archives 2010)
Have Joxfield ProjeX become a Big Band with all these guests? And is this The White Album of Joxfield ProjeX? The answer is No on both questions. When we were about to start our new recording sessions in 2007 we had decided we wanted to bring our music into territories where we had never been before. To do so we wanted to involve other people and asked around amongst artists we liked and respected and to whom we could direct a mission - contribute to our music in an open-minded and creative way. Most of those we asked generously brought their inspiration to us and went into the project, sometimes for a specific track, sometimes for many of them.
Very quick we realised it was a huge project and when it all was finished we had about 2,5 hours of music we didn't want to split up. That's why it's a 3 disc set. The variation of the music is the variation of our minds, that's how we are. For those who care Disc A - Abstract Numbers is maybe a bit introvert, reflective and the Discs B & C - Concrete Letters A-Z might seem extrovert, a little bit more easy-going. Most of the music is recorded in 2007 with lots of additional recordings, editing and treatments in 2007 - 2010.
Joxfield ProjeX is still the duo Oax and Yan playing their instruments, programming stuff, adding whatever they find reasonable to add, edit and treat. What about the guests? Most of them do have a long and deep history of success with various bands etc, but instead of fooling both you and them and pretend this music here sounds like anything what they've done with those constellations we suggest you check them up by your own.

Smorgasbord - Oddities and Rarities 2005-2010 (Free download Clinical Archives 2010)
Joxfield ProjeX for dinner! Why not? "Smorgasbord" is a collection of oddities and rarities from the five years of Joxfield ProjeX existence 2005 until now. These are tunes recorded mostly between album sessions, out of context, standing on their own feet. Some of them are radical remixes/re-makes of something released/not released during this period. And believe it or not, you'll find Kenji Siratori as a spoken word crooner... Enjoy the meal!

Phantastique (Free download Clinical Archives 2009)
"Phantastique" is a virtual LP. The intension was to make a straight, plain and simple jam record based on some repetitive patterns, at least in Joxfield ProjeX' terms of what is straight, plain and simple. Not to get too much stuck into the spacey jams the tunes are separated by some short experimental pieces. Look at these moments as opportunities to get some good, fresh air.
Even though it's maybe not heard in the music, the main inspirational sources for these recordings are some albums by Acid Mothers Temple, especially Kawabata Makoto's mixing style, but also some funky grooves from Miles Davis' 'On The Corner' period.
This album should be played LOUD, in excitement and full awareness.

"Virtual Dreams & Realities" is a one-track suite in various parts. It consists of various elements of played and improvised music as well as parts constructed from patterns from the Joxfield ProjeX vault. The suite has also loads of samples, both from own sources as well as foreign. Some re-worked, very old parts has its origins from recordings made in the late 1890s.

The basic recordings for Picnic was an unfinished hour-long pure ambient/drone-piece recorded in 2007 which during autumn and winter 2008-2009 turned into what it is today with loads of rhythmic constructions, samples and additional playing. Picnic is not meant for you to be in a hurry when listening. It is this kind of music that slowly comes to you and takes over more and more of your mind and attention. A lot of things happens.
